Number of Cards: 27

Notes: Much like Shiny Collection back in the BW era, Legendary Shine Collection is a completely holo in some way, shape, or form. It also is kind of a blast from the past with a touch of the modern — this is the first subset since 2009’s Movie Release Commemoration Random Pack to feature only Pokemon cards with no trainers whatsoever! The subset focuses on two major focal Pokemon: PikachuEX and HoopaEX. They are then supported by a myriad of Pokemon who feature in the anime and the movie that this set was released in commemoration of, from protagonists and antagonists 'mons alike, to the big smack-down of Legendary Pokemon.

When it comes to how insanely pretty this set, it delivers in spades — from artwork to how glorious each card is thanks to the inset holos. Common and Uncommon cards saw a glossy coating with a star inset pattern, while Rare cards were not only entirely mirror foil cards with a glossy coating and holo inset but also were Full Art illustrations. Double Rare/EX cards saw their usual glossy coating but with the same inset holo that is featured on the Rare cards. A good number of full art cards actually share artwork with one another, i.e. Regigigas, Arceus, and White Kyurem form one illustration, while Palkia, Zekrom, and Latios are all fighting in the same area so cameo in each other’s cards. It’s truly awe-inspiring, and a great subset overall.

I think it’s very easy to guess which card(s) I love the most in this subset!

There was also a special collectors album released in Pokemon Centre and movie theatres that tied into CP2's release. It came with pack from Legendary Shine Collection, in addition to internally having pages that you could set certain cards that had directly joining artwork. You can check out these pages here: Regigias, Arceus, and White Kyurem & Reshiram vs Black Kyurem. It also had the complete joint artwork for the two booster pack designs, which you can see here as well.

For the record when it comes to the name:
A big chunk of the community are sticking by Legendary Shine Collection as the ‘official’ translation, but some players in the West are calling it ‘Legendary Holo Collection’, which is wildly incorrect. The Japanese word Kira - キラ - means ‘to shine’, or something shiny (for the record, ‘Shiny Pokemon’ are known as Irochigai no Pokemon - 色違いのポケモン。)

While this is the term used within the Japanese community and Creatures official to denote holofoil cards, it does not actually mean holographic or holofoil which is why the set name is definitely not ‘Legendary Holo Collection’!

• This subset was released in Japan on the 18th of July 2015.
• The entirety of this subset is holographic and glossy coated.
• This is the first release of a card featuring Arceus since 2009.
• There was a deck released alongside this subset, the Player Start Deck EmboarEX VS TogekissEX. While not directly related, they do share the setblock release.
• This set has been partially released across two special boxes and some set insert cards in English.
